Privacy Policy
Sousy LLC ("Sousy," "we," "us," or "our") takes your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you use Sousy — your AI-powered cooking companion that helps you discover recipes, plan meals, and get step-by-step cooking help.
By using Sousy, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
1. Information We Collect
A. Account Information
When you create an account, we may collect:
- Your display name
- Email address (used for one-time passcode login and account notices)
- Third-party sign-in identifiers (e.g., Apple ID, Google ID) if you use those services
- Profile preferences (such as avatar selections)
B. Recipes, Cooking Activity, and Meal Planning
We collect information about how you use Sousy, including:
- Recipes you save, import, view, create, or edit
- Grocery lists and shopping list items (including quantities and notes)
- Meal plans, weekly menus, and scheduled meals
- Guided cooking sessions (e.g., steps completed, timers started)
- Notes, ratings, and feedback you add to recipes
C. Dietary Preferences, Restrictions, and Allergy Information (Optional)
If you choose to share dietary preferences, restrictions, allergies, or dislikes, we use that information to personalize your experience (for example, to avoid recommending recipes that conflict with what you’ve told us). Sharing this information is optional.
D. Chat Content
When you chat with Sousy, we collect and store your messages (including any text you submit and the responses you receive) so we can provide the service, maintain context, and support features like conversation history.
Sousy may also create “memories” from your conversations to help personalize future experiences (for example, remembering a cuisine you love or an ingredient you dislike). Memories are stored as account data and are not shared with advertisers. You can manage and delete memories in-app, and you can delete your account as described below.
E. Uploaded Images
If you upload images (for example, a cookbook page or recipe screenshot), we store those images and may send them to AI providers for analysis so Sousy can answer your questions. Images may be processed at upload time and again in follow-up messages if re-analysis is needed.
When you delete content that contains images (for example, deleting a conversation or removing an image from a recipe), we delete the associated images from our systems within a reasonable period, subject to backups and legal requirements.
F. Device and Usage Data
We automatically collect certain technical information, such as:
- Device type, operating system, browser/app version
- IP address and approximate location (e.g., country/region)
- Usage patterns and feature interactions
- Performance data, crash reports, and error logs
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
A. Provide and Personalize Sousy
- Provide cooking assistance, recipe suggestions, and Q&A
- Save and organize your cookbook, grocery lists, and meal plans
- Maintain conversation context and your requested preferences
- Support guided cooking features such as step-by-step mode and timers
B. Improve and Protect Sousy
- Debug issues, improve reliability, and optimize performance
- Understand how features are used so we can improve them
- Detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and security incidents
C. Communicate with You
- Send authentication emails (one-time passcodes) and service notices
- Respond to support requests and feedback
- Notify you about important changes to the service
D. Product Recommendations and Affiliate Links
Sousy may display product recommendations (such as cookware, kitchen tools, or ingredients) relevant to your cooking context. Here’s how this works:
- We may use AI to determine useful product categories based on what you’re doing in Sousy
- We may generate product search queries to fetch recommended items
- Your chat messages are not shared with advertisers; we use only the minimum information needed to fetch relevant results (such as an AI-generated query)
- Some links may be affiliate links, and we may earn a commission from purchases
3. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as described below:
A. Service Providers
We use trusted vendors to operate Sousy (for example, cloud hosting, analytics, support tools, and email delivery). These providers process information on our behalf and under contractual obligations to protect it.
B. AI Providers
Sousy uses third-party AI providers to generate responses and analyze content. Depending on the feature, we may send your messages, recipe content, and uploaded images to these providers to process your request.
We do not use your private content to train our own AI models. AI providers may process data according to their policies and the configuration we use with them. If a provider offers a setting that limits retention or training, we aim to use those settings where available.
C. Payment Processors
If you purchase a subscription, payments are processed by third parties such as Stripe and/or Apple. We do not store complete payment card details on our servers.
D. Legal and Safety Reasons
We may share information if we believe it is reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce our terms, protect the rights and safety of Sousy, our users, or others, or detect/prevent fraud and abuse.
E. Business Transfers
If Sousy is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice if required by law.
4. Third-Party Services We Use
Sousy relies on third-party services to operate. Examples include:
- AI providers (for chat and image analysis)
- Cloud hosting and storage providers
- Email delivery providers (for login codes and service notices)
- Payment processors (for subscriptions and in-app purchases)
- Analytics tools (to understand app usage and performance)
- Affiliate partners (for product recommendations)
These providers have their own privacy policies. Where we link to them, those policies apply to their processing of your information.
5. Imported Recipes and External Content
If you provide a URL or import a recipe from another website, Sousy may retrieve and process that content to extract recipe information for your use (such as ingredients and steps).
To improve import quality and performance, Sousy may maintain a global library of previously imported recipes. This global data is not intended to be linked to your personal identity, and Sousy stores recipe source URLs when available so you can reference the original.
6. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Sousy uses cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage) to support core functionality, including authentication, session management, preferences, and security.
We do not use third-party advertising cookies to track you across other companies’ websites. You can configure your browser to block cookies, but Sousy may not work properly without them.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain personal information as long as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
You can delete your account through the Data & Privacy section in the app (if available) or by contacting us at privacy@sousy.com.
After account deletion, we remove or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, subject to:
- Security, fraud-prevention, and audit logging
- Payment, tax, and accounting obligations
- Backups that are retained for limited periods and then automatically purged
- Aggregated or de-identified analytics that cannot reasonably be linked to you
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International Data Transfers
Sousy is operated from the United States, and information may be processed and stored in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. If you use Sousy from outside the United States, you understand that information may be transferred internationally.
10. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing.
You can typically update account details in settings. To request access, deletion, or export, contact privacy@sousy.com.
If you are a California resident, you may have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended). Sousy does not sell personal information. If you are located in the EEA/UK, you may have additional rights under GDPR, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
11. Children’s Privacy
Sousy is not intended for children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the service or by email where appropriate. Your continued use of Sousy after an update means you accept the updated policy.
13. Contact Us
